The Global Futures Put/Volume Ratio

The Global Futures Put/Volume Ratio

is a market sentiment indicator. It is calculated by dividing the volume of CBOE equity put options by the NYSE volume on a weekly basis and is interpreted in a contrary fashion. High readings signify extreme pessimism and fear, sometimes outright panic and indicate very often bottoms. Low readings of this indicator result from the anticipation of higher prices ahead and are therefore considered bearish. It is in our opinion more affirmative than the widely used put / call ratio which has gained widespread notice.
